I went to capitol lunch for the first time in many years . It reminds me so much of when my father went when I was a kid over a 1/2 century ago . They still keep that nostalgia and great simplicity . The meat sauce is just as good as ever and don't matter how you dress those dogs they are very good . Keep it that way .

Original recipe on their hotdogs, burgers and fries, service was nice and friendly, and the ambiance will compared with a retro dinner style.

Best hotdogs in Connecticut hands down! I have been eating hotdogs here since I was a kid. This restaurant has been in business as long as I can remember and I understand why!

I love this sauce, Martin Rosol dogs and memories for the past 50 years Some are critical and say the sauce recipe changed. Nothing is perfect, maybe the sauce is slightly different from batch to batch and maybe some of our taste buds have changed, Either way it's always going to be great in my opinion!

In the city of New Britain it was declared today by the mayor of New Britain that the city is the HotDog CAPITOL of the state of Connecticut and if not the entire country. Spent the better part of 50+years getting Hotdogs from here and always KISS keeping it so simple. Service is always top notch as always they move quick so you need to have a game plan before your at the counter. For me it's always a HotDog with mustard, ketchup, and of course the secret sauce. Can remeber as a kid walking down there from Daly Ave with my Dad and Granpa and always asking what's the secret sauce. Worker wlways said its a secret. Love it and always Rosols HotDog steamed and finished on the flat top to give it that snap!!!!!

It seems I'm never in the area, so when I am I always have to stop. This place still hasn't changed since the last time I was here a bout 3 years ago. Their "famous hot dog" with the sauce is amazing, and frankly I haven't had comparable dog. Not to mention the martin Russell hotdogs have that infamous "crunch" with each bite. Food was quick and hot. I am not a French fry fan, but the fries were thin, perfectly salted, and best of all hot and fresh. Since I don't come often, I forced myself to eat two hotdogs! Looking forward to the next time I'm back. Tip: if you're paying with card, the prices are a bit more than the menu

Whenever I come back to New Britain, I always stop in here. They don't do designer hot dogs. They don't do fancy creations or have special menus (unless they do, it's been too long). What they *do* do is slather a dog or three with yellow mustard, diced onions, and "the sauce", and it winds up being one of the best hot dogs you'll ever eat. Live far away like I do? You can get The Sauce to go, and spice up whatever you can make at home.

I went to Capitol Lunch for the first time last week and was not dissapointed! Here's the scoop on this New Britain staple... The restaurant is located right on Main St., so there's on-street parking in front of the building, as well as on a nearby side street. The inside is nothing special. It's pretty large with a good amount of tables to sit at, as well as counter seating on either side of the front entrance, so you can look out the windows and out onto the sidewalk/street. I went on a weekday during the lunch rush, and although it was a little crowded, the service was fast and staff were friendly. You just go up to the counter and place your order, then they call you when it's ready (there's no waitstaff service). I ordered two of the "Famous Hot Dogs" which come topped with yellow mustard, chopped onion, and their special sauce (which I was told is ground beef cooked with some spices, though it is not spicy). They were really good! I ordered a side of fries that were hot and crispy and a Pepsi to drink. The prices were very reasonable at $2.99 for the "Famous Hot Dog" and $2.49 for a regular one. I got the "Famous Combo" which included the two Famous hot dogs, fries (or onion rings), and a fountain soda for $9.99. It seems like they do a lot of to-go orders as well. As they were preparing my order, I saw them boxing up about 12 Famous hot dogs for someone else. Overall a delicious hot dog for a reasonable price. Make sure to stop by if you find yourself in the area!

A wonderful Yelp CT evening out at the Capital Lunch (the hotdog with our famous "CAPPY"sauce. Also a special touch of the grape kool-aid that was offered that I haven't had since I was kid. This place that so many people have been and has been around since 1929. The meat sauce is so yummy and a perfect touch which I had on both my hotdog and my hamburger along with the nacho cheese sauce. I also tried the onion rings and bacon cheese fries which were delicious. The Capital Lunch has been voted best hotdog for 2022 and pretty much every year before. The owner Author explained all of the history of this restaurant. Along he shared rhe story behind each picture that's display on the walls from back in 1929. Great hole in the wall place to visit in the heart of New Britain.
